KAWASHIMA Motoe

Kawashima is interested in the invisible connections that lie beneath phenomena perceived as division or isolation. Entities, memories, time and space—which at first glance appear to be disconnected—are in fact intertwined like a complex web. She explores this sense of connection through monochrome expressions in the form of drawings, paper cut-outs and installations.
Having been familiar with Kagura dance since childhood, she began exploring experimental movement practices that transcend the boundaries between physical expression and visual art after performing whilst wearing works by Anita Gratzer.
