ジュリア・バレンシアはアートディレクターであり、アーティストです。クリエイターとしての彼女の役割はプロジェクトごとに変化します。自身の作品を制作する一方で、ロシオ・モリーナ、マルタ・パソス、レアンドロ・カノといった他のアーティストたちのプロジェクトにおいて、ディレクションやサポート、コラボレーションも行っています。使用する素材や表現手法は毎回異なりますが、制作プロセスへのこだわりは決して変わりません。それは、各プロジェクトを最小限の表現にまで凝縮し、その作品が求める表現方法を見出すことにあります。
創作活動に加え、バレンシアは自身の作品を自らパフォーマンスで披露したり、トークや集まりを通じて創作プロセスに対する自身の考えを共有したりもしている。
Julia Valencia is an art director and artist. Her position as a creator shifts with each project: she creates her own pieces, but also directs, accompanies, and collaborates on projects by other artists, including Rocío Molina, Marta Pazos, and Leandro Cano. The materials and technical languages change each time, but the need for process never does: distilling each project down to its minimal gesture, finding the language each piece calls for.
Beyond creating, Valencia also performs her own work, and shares her understanding of the creative process through talks and gatherings.
